Inspired by mermaid folklore, the painting is built through layered shades of blue in a cut-work, lino-like visual language that echoes the movement of water and tides. I so want to believe that if we look close enough there exist Merpeople in our wild waters!

Rather than a mythical figure defined by legend, this mermaid exists in her own space — calm, fluid, and self-possessed. The work reflects on the sea as a place of depth, mystery, and quiet autonomy, where stories shift and identities remain beautifully unfixed.

To see my process follow me on Instagram at @rukminikelkar

Colors will vary slightly from computer screen to the original artwork.
Rukmini Kelkar retains all reproduction rights and copyrights.
Sale of original artwork does not reflect transfer of copyright.
Please message me with any questions you have before purchase.

Title- Lady of the Sea
33.5 cm by 44 cm framed in a oak finish frame.
Acrylic on canvas.

**Shipping globally so kindly reach out to me via email (studio32ireland@gmail.com) for any purchase outside of the Republic of Ireland.**

[24
