The first light is the first painting that sparked the Portal series—a vivid, layered celebration of colour, emotion, and emergence. With rough textures and upbeat hues, it carries the energy of winter giving way to spring, of light slowly returning to the landscape and to the self. The work is an invitation to feel uplifted, to reconnect with joy as a conscious practice. Through its dynamic composition and bursts of colour, it reflects the moment when stillness gives way to movement, and introspection transforms into expression. This painting is both memory and momentum—a threshold into brighter, freer possibilities.
