This piece has travelled around and has finally come back to the studio and is available for sale at a discounted price.
This huge piece is based on Bombay and the Dharavi slums I hate the word slums.
Anyway, Dharavi is a place of colour, chaos, hardworking people , filth, failed government promises, and yet so much of resilience.
I wanted to paint that, and I wanted to paint it on a quiet night. I am pretty sure there aren’t many quiet nights in Bombay. But this is my version. The colourful shanties the Mithi River running by the train tracks and the moon.
I also can see a lot of influence of my Nanis (granny) work in this piece, and I love that.
